Biography

Ronald Salem, MD, FACS, is a surgeon and division chief of surgical oncology. He specializes in treating malignant and pre-malignant disease of the pancreas, liver, gallbladder, stomach, and small intestine. He also has a special interest in the treatment of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, and liver tumors in pregnant women. Dr. Salem is passionate about improving the lives of people with cancer.

Dr. Salem’s clinical research interests include combined therapy for esophageal cancer, managing pancreatic cysts and liver tumors, and improving outcomes for patients undergoing pancreatic surgery.

He has received many awards, including the David and Cindy Lefell Award for Clinical Excellence, the Yale New Haven Hospital Heroes Award, the Smilow Cancer Center Clinical Award, the Alvan Feinstein Clinical Teaching Award, and the Chief Resident in Surgery Teaching Award nine times.

Dr. Salem is the Lampman Professor of Surgery at Yale School of Medicine.
